Relationship between recurrent dreams and ego identity
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between recurrent dreams and ego identity. It is said that recurrent dreams can tell dreamers about their problems. In adolescence, people may face problems such as Erikson's developmental task for achieving ego identity. If having a recurrent dream implies working toward achieving a developmental task, it would imply that young people who have recurrent dreams NOW are working toward achieving a PREVIOUS developmental task. Two hundred and twenty university students answered a questionnaire about their recurrent dreams as an index of ego identity and gave free descriptions of their recurrent (or impressive) dreams. These students were divided into four categories based on their responses. The results of this study were as follows: (1) The group of recurrent dreamers achieved developmental tasks better than other types of dreamers, and (2) recurrent dream has possibilities about the function to support achieving developmental Task using inner contents
The space of non-extendable quasimorphisms
For a pair of a group and its normal subgroup , we consider
the space of quasimorphisms and quasi-cocycles on non-extendable to . To
treat this space, we establish the five-term exact sequence of cohomology
relative to the bounded subcomplex. As its application, we study the spaces
associated with the kernel of the (volume) flux homomorphism, the
IA-automorphism group of a free group, and certain normal subgroups of Gromov
hyperbolic groups.
Furthermore, we employ this space to prove that the stable commutator length
is equivalent to the stable mixed commutator length for certain pairs of a

AQT-D: Demonstration of the Water Resistojet Propulsion System by the ISS-Deployed CubeSat
AQT-D (AQua Thruster-Demonstrator) is a 3U CubeSat for a demonstration of a water resistojet propulsion system developed by The University of Tokyo. AQT-D installed the 1U propulsion system using water as a propellant, named AQUARIUS-1U (AQUA ResIstojet propUlsion System 1U). We completed the design and assembly of the AQT-D flight model. AQUARIUS-1U was fired on a pendulum-type thrust balance, and its performance was directly characterized in both a stand-alone test and an integrated test using an entire spacecraft system. AQT-D is currently scheduled to be delivered to JAXA in July 2019 and launched to the International Space Station (ISS) in the middle of 2019 by the H-IIB rocket. AQT-D will be deployed from the Japanese Experiment Module (JEM), known as Kibo, and demonstrate water propulsion technology
Diagnostic Value of Dual-time-point F-18 FDG PET/CT and Chest CT for the Prediction of Thymic Epithelial Neoplasms
We retrospectively assessed the dual-time-point (DTP) F-18 FDG PET/CT findings of thymic epithelial neoplasms (TENs) and investigated the diagnostic capacity of PET/CT compared to that of CT for predicting carcinoma. We calculated the ratio of the standardized uptake value of the tumor and that of the aortic arch (T/M ratio) for both the 90-min early scan and the 2-h delayed scan in 56 TEN patients. We used a multivariate logistic regression (MLR) analysis to estimate the CT features of carcinoma. We compared the diagnostic capacities of PET/CT and chest CT using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses. The ROC curve revealed that the appropriate cut-off T/M ratio value for the highest accuracy was 2.39 with 75.0% accuracy. The area under the curve (AUC) was 0.855. The statistical analyses for DTP scans of 35 TEN patients demonstrated 74.3% accuracy and 0.838 AUC for the early scan versus 82.9% and 0.825 for the delayed scan. The MLR analysis indicated that mediastinal fat infiltration was a predictor of carcinoma. The ROC curve obtained for the model yielded an AUC of 0.853. Delayed scanning could improve the diagnostic capacity for carcinoma. The T/M ratio and mediastinal fat infiltration are predictive of carcinoma with moderate diagnostic accuracy
Peripheral Blood CD64 Levels Decrease in Crohn's Disease following Granulocyte and Monocyte Adsorptive Apheresis
Granulocyte and monocyte adsorptive apheresis (GMA) is reportedly useful as induction therapy for Crohn's disease (CD). However, the effects of GMA on CD64 have not been well characterized. We report here our assessment of CD64 expression on neutrophils before and after treatment with GMA in two patients with CD. The severity of CD was assessed with the CD activity index (CDAI). The duration of each GMA session was 60 min at a flow rate of 30 ml/min as per protocol. CD64 expression on neutrophils was measured by analyzing whole blood with a FACScan flow cytometer. In case 1, CD64 levels after each session of GMA tended to decrease compared to pretreatment levels, whereas in case 2, CD64 levels dropped significantly after treatment. The CDAI decreased after GMA in both cases 1 and 2. A significant correlation was noted between CDAI scores and CD64 levels in both cases. In conclusion, GMA reduced blood CD64 levels, which would be an important factor for the decrease of CDAI scores
Solar System Exploration Sciences by EQUULEUS on SLS EM-1 and Science Instruments Development Status
EQUULEUS is a spacecraft to explore the cislunar region including the Earth-Moon Lagrange point L2 (EML2) and will be launched by NASA’s SLS EM-1 rocket. Although the size of EQUULEUS is only 6U, the spacecraft carries three different science instruments. By using these instruments, the spacecraft will demonstrate three missions for solar system exploration science during and after the flight to EML2; imaging of the plasmasphere around the earth, observation of space dust flux in the cislunar region, and observation of lunar impact flashes at the far side of the moon. The developments and verifications of the flight models of these science instruments were completed by the end of 2018, and we started flight model integration and testing. This paper introduces the details of the scientific objectives, design results and development statuses of the instruments. In addition, results of the integration and pre-flight tests are also described
Development of a Multifunctional Lightweight Membrane with a High Specific Power Generation Capacity
As a lighter power generation system, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and Sakase Adtech Corp. are developing a demonstrator component named “Harvesting Energy with Lightweight Integrated Origami Structure” (HELIOS), which is a deployable lightweight membrane structure. HELIOS has solar arrays on its surface and demonstrates the technology which enables higher specific power generation capacity compared to the conventional solar array panels. The membrane also has communication antennas, showing the potency of lightweight membrane’s multifunctionality such as large data transmitting by 5G antennas and high-resolution observation by interferometer antennas. microRNA-33 maintains adaptive thermogenesis via enhanced sympathetic nerve activity

Here, we show that microRNA (miR)-33 in the brain is indispensable for adaptive thermogenesis. Cold stress increases miR-33 levels in the hypothalamus and miR-33−/− mice are unable to maintain body temperature in cold environments due to reduced sympathetic nerve activity and impaired brown adipose tissue (BAT) thermogenesis. Analysis of miR-33f/f dopamine-β-hydroxylase (DBH)-Cre mice indicates the importance of miR-33 in Dbh-positive cells. Mechanistically, miR-33 deficiency upregulates gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)A receptor subunit genes such as Gabrb2 and Gabra4. Knock-down of these genes in Dbh-positive neurons rescues the impaired cold-induced thermogenesis in miR-33f/f DBH-Cre mice. Conversely, increased gene dosage of miR-33 in mice enhances thermogenesis. Thus, miR-33 in the brain contributes to maintenance of BAT thermogenesis and whole-body metabolism via enhanced sympathetic nerve tone through suppressing GABAergic inhibitory neurotransmission. This miR-33-mediated neural mechanism may serve as a physiological adaptive defense mechanism for several stresses including cold stress
